While I already did release Capo 4.6 for iOS a few weeks back, the real star of the ‘26 OS series updates for Capo is the macOS version.
I know that macOS Tahoe isn’t universally loved by all, but I’m a real big fan of what Apple’s done to the toolbar system. So much so that I thought it was high time that Capo did away with the HUD and Control Strips on the Mac, and went full-on Mac-assed Mac App for this release!
Here’s the official blog post with a few more details:
Now get back to your regularly scheduled song learning, which I hope is going at least a little bit better today thanks to this update!
I wish I could give more than a single heart for that one! It’s one of those features that I’d been meaning to add to Capo for years, but I couldn’t ever find a good “home” for it.[1]
Then, while doing my grad studies on musicians learning by ear, I’d discovered how critical the freezer actually was—tonal working memory is incredibly fragile, and being able to hear notes held continuously can be a real game changer!
It’s funny, because I always thought of the freezer/scrubbing as a “wouldn’t this be really cool if…” feature, and now I see how it might actually mean the difference between someone actually learning a tune by ear versus giving up on it altogether.
I do still need to find a home for it on the HUD, because the iOS version will have to keep that control scheme for a little while longer… ↩︎
