It would be great if markers could have labels (chorus, verse, etc) to see where I am jumping around at, not labeling regions , who the heck wants to create full regions all the way through a song for each structure change.
Long time gripe, the Mac interface wastes a lot of space. I figure this is trying to be consistent with small UI form factors of iphone and ipad, or perhaps it’s Johnny Ive anal minimalism, idk ?With guitar in hand I only want to quickly use one hand to perform most actions when transcribing. Constant using that pop up menu is annoying as heck, I don’t want to be chording on the key board either, I WANT to keep my hands on the guitar and quickly leave and get back.
There’s plenty of new stuff on the list, but it’s been a real struggle for me to keep on top of things lately. I’m licking my wounds after a few failed experiments, and trying to wrap up some ugly maintenance work that was required just so that I could continue shipping the app while building with Apple’s latest developer tools.
Regarding your request for verse/bridge/chorus markers: is there a reason you don’t use the Structure Song View to navigate the song in larger segments? That’s a rather large “new thing” that was added to Capo (relatively) recently, and many have found it to be quite a boon.
As for the “waste of space”, that’s a fair criticism. However, everything you mention should be easily accessible via the keyboard and/or MIDI controls [1]. If the default keystrokes are difficult for you to use with one hand, you should be able to re-assign them to something that makes more sense.
With one exception: the isolation settings are not currently keyboard-mapped, and that should hopefully come with the “remote control updates” that I’m working (very slowly) on. ↩︎
Good to hear you’re keeping the app up to date with the latest Apple code, that can be a bit of a pita.

No, when transcribing I don’t need a chord chart, though I can see this could be nice for some folks.
Watched a Capo video on the structured song view, tried it out, more colors please :). Don’t see the structure view as a core participant in my transcribing workflow, unless some how it is reflected back in the tabbing view.
Remapping a few keys, will work, but visual feedback is always nice.
I do use some of the keys for speed increase/decrease, the pitch keys will be handy too.
Nice didn’t know Capo worked with midi. Any docs or videos on this? Is it PC or CC codes, auto-mapping?
My work view is the tabbing view with the spectrogram.
The spectrogram and the great Mac integration keep me mostly using Capo and using Transcribe less. Though, the RipX tools might have more and improved transcription features in the future, maybe not?
The other Capo views I really don’t use very often, though I can see how they could be very helpful for others.
There’s not a whole lot of documentation about the Keyboard/MIDI feature, but that’s because it’s rather simple in its operation. Here’s the relevant section from the help file: Song Navigation.
As I mentioned elsewhere, I am trying to push the Keyboard/MIDI feature forwards so that it can support a wider set of control schemes. It’s taking longer than I’d like because it turns out to require an awful lot of careful thought to “get it right”! (That seems to be a theme with me lately…)
