Capo 4.4 Public Beta

The 4.4 release is just about ready to go out the door. :tada::tada::tada:

However, this time around I’m going to break from tradition and give you folks an early look at the new update before I submit it to the App Store for release. Click to join the Capo Community Testers group for macOS or for iOS. Both of these links will help you get this set up.

Note to macOS users: While Capo supports versions of macOS going back to 10.14,[1] the beta is only accessible if you’re running macOS 12.0 and later[2] macOS 14.0 and later because of TestFlight.

The main new feature in this release is Capo Remote Control, which lets you define custom bindings for your Keyboard and MIDI hardware. You can read more about it in the latest draft of the Capo 4.4 user guide[3], but you should know that the feature requires macOS 14 or iOS 17 and later.

I included some testing notes in TestFlight, so please take a look at those before you install the app. If you encounter any trouble during testing, you can create a new topic here in the Feedback group to share your experience with others.

Please let me know if you have any trouble getting this beta build installed on your system.

Thanks in advance for your help!

  1. I hope to explain this in a blog post, but it appears that this release will finally force my hand to “get with the times” and bump my deployment target much further. ↩︎

  2. Apparently I need to get even more “with the times” than I’d originally thought. Maintaining support for older OS releases is getting harder to do every year. ↩︎

  3. I’m also working on a video, but that work has been halted due to a construction project in the room adjacent to my office. ↩︎
