Vidami Compatibility

I asked Chris about the possibility of adding the Vidami foot controller to the list of compatible hardware. For those not familiar, Vidami is a USB controller that is primarily used for YouTube playback control, (although the company has added additional instructional website support).

The Vidami has 5 switches for play/pause toggle, replay/forward 5 seconds, speed, and a loop function. BTW, this is not a MIDI controller.

Chris advised me that capability probably already exists with the Capo built-in keyboard binding controls, and after just a few minutes I was happy to report that Capo will support Vidami!

I haven’t done a deep-dive into anything really complex so as of now, I am able to control the following simple functions:
Play/pause toggle, reset to beginning of song, back to last bar, and volume up/down control.

Anyway,
This works great and is a fantastic feature to an already outstanding application!

Thank you Chris!

Thanks for sharing!

I suspect that this might also be true for other non-MIDI foot controllers. That is, they simply act like USB (or Bluetooth) keyboards that send a fixed set of keystrokes into the system. When this is the case, you can simply set up some custom keyboard bindings to trigger commands in Capo.

So if anybody else out there has a device that doesn’t send to seem MIDI messages, it’s worth checking to see whether you can set it up to work with Capo’s keyboard bindings.
