I don’t know if this is worth the effort, because my work flow maybe different then most.
I always have capo running and I usually have many capo windows open.
A lot of times when learning a song I will have several versions of a song from different artist open in single capo window using tabs, each version of the song in it’s own tab. I like to examine the different variations of a song if available. I also usually have the original song and its isolated stems in the same window with tabs. It would be nice to be able to reopen the window and all its tabs. A similar example would be like in most browsers you can book mark a browser window and it’s tabs into a single folder, if you want to open that browser window again and its tabs you just open the folder, or go into the folder an open the tab you like.
This is an interesting request, and it’s not the first time this request has come up.
The entire tab system is provided by macOS, and I have little influence over how it works. However, like you said, browsers (such as Safari) seem to have some kind of mechanism to save and restore the tab groups. So my hope is that there is a way I can replicate that functionality without having to rebuild what the system provides.
Thanks for sharing—especially the part about using separate projects to deal with different stems. Are you using Logic Pro’s stem splitting, or something else in this workflow?
Yes, I use Logic Pro and RipX DAW. In RipX DAW you can edit the stems. RipX DAW has a spectrogram editor, so you can fine tune the stem splitting and move portions of the song in the wrong stem into the correct stem. It is very tedious, but can be handy.
Recently in RipX, there was a song I was working on where the harmonica part was showing up in the piano or guitar stem. I was able remove it and move it to it’s own stem.
