I have a song that I’m analyzing and the whole thing is 170 bpm and in 4/4. However, capo detects a bpm of 87,4 and a time signature of 3/4.
Is there a way to override this for the entire song. I watched the “Editing Beats” video and Ive been in the STRUCTURE section but I only seem to be able to change the time signature of one bar at a time. I have also not found how to override the detected tempo.
Capo doesn’t offer a global override, because the tempo is calculated using the position of every beat in the song. So the only way to modify the tempo is to modify the beat grid.
Around the 0:40 mark of the video I start talking about the “record bars” feature, where you tap the downbeat of each bar. Because your song is in 4/4 time, you can simply leave the setting at 4 beats per bar, and then tap out the downbeats.
But you don’t have to do this for the entire song at once. If you’re just working on the intro, or the first chorus, you can just tap out only the bars you’re working on so that you can set up your regions, and get a metronome that clicks correctly while you’re working through each part.
