I’m writing to express my strong interest in a lifetime license option for Capo. As a user who values true software ownership, I generally avoid subscriptions and prefer to support developers through one-time purchases. If a lifetime license were made available—even at a premium—I would gladly purchase it immediately.
I believe offering such an option could appeal to a broader user base, especially those of us who prioritize long-term value and direct support for the tools we rely on. Thank you for considering this request, and for continuing to build such a thoughtful and inspiring music tool.
Thanks for your feedback about lifetime licenses—you’re not the first to request this option.
Regarding the unified single app, that is something I’ve been thinking about for many years. Unfortunately, it is not easy to pull off because Capo existed as separate SKUs on the Mac App Store and iOS App Store long before Apple made it possible to build unified apps. Also, this change would negatively impact my existing users. Thus, I am stuck maintaining these as separate products on the store for the time being.
Hi, do you have any interest in adding a lifetime purchase option? Or is that simply not possible? Will subscriptions be the only model going forward?
I spend over $10,000 annually on software, but I never subscribe—I only purchase lifetime licenses. No matter the price, lifetime ownership is always my only option. That’s why I’m asking whether you plan to offer a lifetime license in the future, so users like me can support your product in a way that aligns with our values.
As of right now there are no plans to offer a lifetime option alongside the yearly (and more recently, monthly) subscription offerings.
If this is a problem, you’re welcome to use the (unusually generous) feature-rich Free edition without paying anything at all. Should you find the limitations to be problematic, you can pay for the shortest/cheapest subscription option, cancel it immediately, and continue accessing your modified projects for free for as long as the product runs on your machine.
